My personal narrative is characterized by selective disclosure; while I consciously refrain from engaging in discourse surrounding my disability, I am unequivocally transparent about my military service. This delineation is not indicative of concealment but rather an intentional choice to prioritize specific aspects of my lived experience. For fellow veterans, this ethos encapsulates a complex interplay between personal agency and collective identity, underscoring the spectrum of how one’s service and life experiences can be shared or withheld in various contexts.
