DIY Closet French Doors | You Can Build This

2 min read

Hey everyone! In this video I’ll be showing you how I built my closet french doors from start to finish. The size of my opening is 30"x80" and I’ll be custom building them since I don’t have the room to install a swinging door or sliding door. The only other options I have are bi-fold doors or french doors. I decided the french door was the best option for me. I ended up spending around $200 on the material list below.

Lessons learned: the wood warped a little bit after I build it and the right door was sticking out at the bottom about a 1/4". I wish I had a joiner to get the wood level on all sides. Unfortunately, I don’t have one and had to use my handheld planer to get the middle area flush again. It ended working out just fine in the end and was happy with the results. Next time, I will have a joiner to assist with the levelness of all boards.
